The streets of downtown St. Louis on Friday were full of protestors and St. Louis area police officers trying to keep the peace. Missouri ranked 49th in legal climate, new laws not reflected in rankings

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Missouri’s attempts to resolve issues in the state’s legal climate this session have now taken effect, but a new ranking by the U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform still has the Show-Me State listed as one of the worst in the nation. Former St. Louis police officer found not guilty in 2011 shooting death

Former St. Louis police officer Jason Stockley was found not guilty of first-degree murder or armed criminal action for the December 2011 shooting death of Anthony Lamar Smith. St. Louis Circuit Judge Timothy Wilson released the verdict on Friday morning that stated that Stockley would not be charged in the shooting death of Smith after a high-speed pursuit through St. Louis and subsequent crash.
