American Red Cross launches veterans drive

Collection announced for personal care items

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The American Red Cross announced on Friday the launch of a “Veterans Sundry Drive” to collect personal care items for area veterans.

“This drive is important because we want to help veterans have the personal care items that are otherwise unavailable or unaffordable to them,” Sandy Vaughn, the region’s director of Service to the Armed Forces said.

The Red Cross will be collecting items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, denture adhesive cream, socks, underwear and restaurant gift cards. The items collected will be distributed at VA hospitals, State of Missouri Veterans homes and other veteran’s facilities.

Items can be dropped off from 9 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday at the Greater St. Louis Chapter located at 10195 Corporate Square, St. Louis, Mo. 63132.

“Even the smallest of items can make a big difference in letting a military veteran know how much their service continues to be appreciated,” Vaughn said.

The drive will run from Nov. 2nd to Dec. 14th.
