Board of Alderman approves Centene’s plans for civic auditorium

The Clayton Board of Alderman approved Centene’s plans for Subdistrict 2B of the Clayton Campus Development at the Board of Alderman discussion session Tuesday.

The multi-use civic auditorium is just one part of the corporation’s $770 million expansion. Construction on the first phase of the development began in February.

The auditorium will hold 1,000 seats and will act as a training center, as well as a community arts theatre.

Centene plans to relocate more than 1,000 St. Louis County employees to Clayton. It has received $75.6 million in tax abatements to help fund the first two phases of the expansion.

Subdistrict 2B is located on the southwest corner of Forsyth and Carondelet Plaza.
