The St. Louis County Police Chief has requested legislation that would accept and appropriate a grant of $261,000 to help pay for the salaries of three domestic violence unit detectives.
Police Chief Jon Belmar requested the legislation be brought up that would appropriate a grant in the amount of $261,020.23 awarded by the 2018-19 STOP Violence Against Women (VAWA).
The VAWA grant program is administered by the Missouri Department of Public Safety.
Belmar stated that the award will fund the partial salaries and benefits of three domestic violence unit detectives.
The grant runs from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31 2019.
The legislation will be introduced by St. Louis County Executive Steve Stenger to the County Council on Tuesday to accept and appropriate the grant as requested.
