Fatal fire in North County

CLAYTON, Mo. – The St. Louis County Police Department reported, on Tuesday, officers from the North County Precinct responded to call for fire on January 29, 2019, at approximately 11:47 am.

Officers responded to the 12500 block of Lusher Road where they discovered a single family residence on fire, “fully involved.” Multiple fire departments responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.

Officers reported further investigation revealed an elderly adult male to have been in the home. He was pronounced dead on the scene and positively identified as Jacob Weber, 102 years of age.

The cause and origin of the fire is being investigated by the St. Louis Regional Bomb and Arson Unit as well as the St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons.

As of Thursday, the investigation had shown that the fire appeared to have been accidental.
