Former St. Louis County Councilman Kevin O’Leary was arrested and booked in Affton on Friday for a DWI after causing a crash.
According to police, officers from the Affton Southwest Precinct responded to the intersection of Tesson Ferry Road and Cedar Plaza Parkway for a report of a traffic accident in which two vehicles were blocking the roadway.
O’Leary’s Ford Escape was turning from eastbound Cedar Plaza Parkway to southbound Tesson Ferry Road when it struck an Acura SUV. There was minimal damage to the vehicles and no injuries.
In Missouri, a DWI is defined as driving with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.08 percent or more, it’s currently unknown what O’Leary’s BAC was at the time of his arrest.
O’Leary, a Democrat, and former restaurant owner, was elected in 2015 after easily defeating Republican Green Park Alderman Tony Pousosa and Constitution Party candidate Cynthia Redburn.
The seat was vacated after then Councilman Steve Stenger, won the St. Louis County Executive position.
O’Leary chose not to seek reelection after his term was up.
Currently, the 6th District position is held by Councilman Ernie Trakas.
O’Leary wasn’t available for comment at press time.
