Health fair to offer mental health awareness, job training, free cancer screenings, donated backpacks, free bike helmets, and more

The 6th annual Back to School Urban Initiative Health Fair and Picnic sponsored by the Believers Temple Word Fellowship on Saturday, July 29, according to a press release.

The fair kicks off at 1 p.m. at Bella Fontaine Park, 9601 Duke Drive, St. Louis.

This year’s theme is “Reaching the Community One Person at a Time.” The St. Louis County Office of Community Empowerment donated backpacks for the event and there will be free cancer screenings. The county’s Workforce Development will supply information about job training programs and the Children’s Service Fund will have a booth dedicated to mental health awareness.

“The Health Fair is a wonderful event for our community,” County Executive Steve Stenger said. “The Office of Community Empowerment makes it a priority to get our county departments involved and this is a great example of community outreach. My thanks to Bishop Calvin Scott for allowing us to spend time with his church family and the hundreds of people that attend every year.”

Through a state grant, St. Louis County is also giving away free bicycle helmets to children.
