MoDOT to close Tower Grove under I-44

ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) announced they will be closing Tower Grove under I-44 beginning next week.

Announced on Monday, MoDOT shared that crews will close the route at 9:00 am on Monday, April 29 and it will be closed for a month. City drivers will need to find an alternative route during this time.

Crews will be rehabilitating the I-44 bridge over the roadway.

“The work was delayed due to expected rain this week,” MoDOT shared. “This work is part of ongoing construction to replace interstate bridges at Kingshighway, Thurman and 39th street and rehabilitate bridges over Vandeventer, Tower Grove and the Union Pacific Railroad tracks.”

According to MoDOT, drivers will be able to use Vandeventer or Grand as alternate routes during the month-long closure. Pedestrians and cyclists can use 39th Street under the interstate, which will reopen before Tower Grove closes.

“All work is weather permitting and may be shifted,” MoDOT said.
