NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri congratulates pro-choice candidates on election wins

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Voters in Tuesday’s mid-term election used their voice to show that pro-choice candidates are a priority in across the state; 23 candidates who are endorsed by NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri won their races.

“We’re incredibly proud of the strong message that Missourians sent out with this election,” Alison Dreith, NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri Executive Director said. “Voters are tired of elected officials that are obsessed with further restricting access to abortion and want to see legislators in office who will fight for their right to bodily autonomy.”

Tuesday night, Missouri pro-choice candidates Matt Sain, HD14; Keri Ingle HD35; and Paula Brown HD70 to the Missouri House. These three candidates flipped the seats from anti-choice to pro-choice.

“Our endorsed candidates worked incredibly hard to represent their districts and kept reproductive freedom at the forefront of their platforms,” Dreith said.

NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri reported that Roe v. Wade is in “greater danger” and that it is “crucial” for individual state legislatures to protect a woman’s right to choose, now that Brett Kavanaugh sits on the Supreme Court. NARAL also reported that suburban Kansas City and St. Louis made moves in ensuring the protection of access to reproductive health care by electing pro-choice candidates.

“We look forward to working with returning pro-choice champions and the brand-new legislators who are dedicated to making Missouri a better place for women and families,” Dreith said.
