Operation Food Search names Wild as executive director

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Operation Food Search (OFS), nonprofit hunger relief and nutrition education organization, has announced Kristen Wild as its new executive director.

Wild succeeds Sunny Schaefer, who served as the organization’s executive director for 22 years.

“We are excited to welcome Kristen to our organization and we look forward to watching her take the lead in establishing new partnerships and bringing additional community resources to our agency,” Lisa Pelikan, chairperson of OFS Board of Directors, said.

Wild joins OFS after serving as executive director at the Ladue Education Foundation & Alumni Association. There she increased annual revenue from $45,000 to $1.9 million in five years.

Previously, Wild worked in a variety of capacities for multiple advocacies and education environments, including Autism Speaks, Sylvan Learning Centers and St. Louis Public Schools.

“Like her longtime predecessor, Sunny Schaefer, Kristen is a true leader who will skillfully guide us into the future while maintaining our mission to eliminate food insecurity,” Pelikan said.

In her new role with OFS, Wild will be overseeing all agency services ranging from emergency food distribution and childhood nutrition to advocacy programs and nutrition education. She will play a major role in continuing the organization’s fundraising efforts and innovative team development as well as cultivating donor and community relationships in the region.

Along with her other responsibilities, Wild will keep up with financial practices, supervise the policies and procedures of OFS and maintain ongoing communication with the board and team members.
