Parson encourages Missourians to honor those who served this country

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Governor Parson will be participating in several events throughout the weekend to commemorate Veterans Day.

“This Veteran’s Day weekend, as we commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, let us take time to honor the service, sacrifice, commitment and courage of all veterans, including the 488,000 veterans who call Missouri home,” Parson said.

Parson will be traveling to the Mizzou vs. Vanderbilt Military Appreciation game on Saturday, Nov. 10th. He will also be attending the 20th Annual Whiteman Day at Mizzou, addressing 650 military members and family members from the Whiteman Air Force Base on Saturday.

“These men and women deserve the highest appreciation from their community, their state and their country,” Parson said. “I know that I would not be the person I am today without my military experience.”

On Sunday, Nov. 11th, Parson will host a “Salute to Service” tailgate to honor veterans of all wars before the Chiefs kickoff at noon. Parson will also join 150 service members at the Fort Leonard Wood Army Color Guard in holding a large American Flag on the field during the National Anthem at Arrowhead Stadium.

Monday, Nov. 12th, Parson will travel to Mountain Grove, Mo. to speak at the Mountain Grove High School’s Veterans Days Celebration and participate in the groundbreaking for the Wright County Area Veterans Memorial Wall at Cedar Centar Park in Mountain Grove.

“As your Governor, it is always a privilege to get to know each and every veteran I meet while traveling across the state,” Parson said.

Parson said that he will continue to work to make Missouri the nation’s most military- and veteran-friendly state.

“[I] encourage everyone to take the time to say thanks to our veterans – not only this weekend but throughout the year,” Parson said. “In doing so, we are teaching the next generation of Missourians the meaning of honor, freedom, integrity and respect.”
