The St. Louis County Police Department on Thursday responded to a call that a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle in South County.
According to the police, at approximately 5:45 p.m., St. Louis County Police officers from the South County Precinct responded to the 2900 block of Telegraph Road for a report of a person struck by a vehicle.
Upon arrival, the officers located a male, approximately in his mid-40s, wearing all dark clothing who was struck by oncoming traffic while trying to cross the street.
He was transported to a local hospital but has since died due to his injuries.
The driver of the striking vehicle remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, according to the St. Louis County police.
The police said they would release the victim’s name after the family was notified.
A similar incident happened on Oct. 26, when a man was killed trying to cross Tesson Ferry.
Michael Jones, 32, of Arnold was also wearing dark clothing and was attempting to cross Tesson Ferry when he was struck by an SUV.
The police noted that the victim in that incident was not crossing at a traffic light or crosswalk.
