ST. LOUIS, Mo., April 10, 2018 – Registration is underway for the 9th annual Cardinals Care 6K Run/Walk set for Sunday, September 9. All proceeds from this fundraising event benefits St. Louis area youth, which has raised over $600,000 over the past eight years.
“It’s a fun event that gives us the chance to interact with fans and raise money for kids,” said Michael Hall, Vice President of Community Relations and Executive Director of Cardinals Care. “Thanks to the support of race participants, we’ve put more than a half million dollars back into our community.”
The Cardinals Care 6K starts at 8:06 a.m. at the Stan Musial statue outside Busch Stadium’s Gate 3. The route takes participants through downtown St. Louis with fun on-course entertainment, including an on-course slip ‘n slide, and ends on the field at Busch Stadium. Runners will be greeted after the finish line by 6K honorary chair and Olympic Gold medalist Jackie Joyner-Kersee, given the opportunity to have a professional photo taken in the dugout and are encouraged to take part in the post-race watch party at Ballpark Village.
All participants will receive a voucher good for two Cardinals tickets during the 2019 regular season, an exclusive race shirt and a commemorative medal. Participants are also encouraged to show their support for the Cardinals by wearing Cardinals gear with an award given to the best dressed. Spectators are invited to show their support by cheering on their loved ones and friends and enjoy the completion of the 6K from inside the stadium for free.
Fundraising is optional, but there are great incentives available for participants who make efforts to raise additional funds for Cardinals Care, including a meet and greet opportunity with a current player prior to a 2019 Cardinals game. Those interested in participating are encouraged to learn more and register at cardinals.com/6K. There is a $15 registration discount until the end of April.
