RELEASE: During Cold Weather, Pet Adoption Center Urges Caution Shelter Has Many Animals Waiting For New Homes

Clayton, Mo – (December 29, 2017) –St. Louis County Executive Steve Stenger and The St. Louis County Pet Adoption Center want to remind pet owners that frigid winter temperatures can be dangerous for pets left outdoors.

“Please remember that if it’s too cold for you, it’s too cold for your pets,” County Executive Stenger said.

The St. Louis County Pet Adoption Center, located at 10521 Baur Blvd, Olivette Mo, is also offering free hay for outdoor pet shelters during the cold weather.

As of Friday morning, the shelter is housing 229 animals, 116 dogs and 113 cats, many of which are up for adoption. St. Louis County has the lowest adoption fee in the region, just $40.

“Why not start the new year with a new friend,” St. Louis County Animal Care and Control Director Dr. Beth Vesco-Mock said. “We have so many wonderful dogs and cats in need of safe and loving homes.”

The Adoption Center will be open from 10 am until 3pm on New Year’s Eve, and 11am until 3 pm on New Year’s Day.
