Elected officials from across the area will join civic leaders for a summit on regional challenges and opportunities at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 30 at the Forest Park Visitor Center.
The summit, called by St. Louis County Executive Steve Stenger as Chair of the East-West Gateway Council of Governments, will focus on four areas: economic development, workforce development, crime and safety, and state policy as it pertains to the St. Louis region. The special summit will take place following the regular monthly East-West Gateway Council of Governments board meeting.
“All of our efforts in these areas are critical for our region’s growth and development,” County Executive Stenger said. “This meeting will focus on the importance of regional coordination among existing entities and how we can best work together to not only solve problems but also take full advantage of opportunities.”
East-West Gateway is the logical place to convene a discussion among elected officials on these subjects, as it already provides the framework for Illinois and Missouri leaders to come together to address regional transportation needs.
