Shooting upgraded to homicide in North County

A man who was shot near Spanish Lake late Wednesday died overnight at a hospital, police said.

At around 8 p.m., St. Louis County Police officers from the North County Precinct responded to a call for shots fired in the 1100 block of Reale Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers located Aaron Simpson, 25, suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body lying in the street.

Officers rendered aid to the victim until paramedics arrived to transport him to a local hospital. Hours later on Thursday, the victim died of his injuries.

Police said Simpson lived in the 800 block of Cordova Street, near where the shooting occurred.

The incident is under investigation by the St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons.
