St. Louis Civic Orchestra to perform American Orchestral Jazz favorites

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The St. Louis Civic Orchestra announced its first concert of 2019, titled American Orchestral Jazz Favorites.

The performance will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at 7:00 pm at Logan University’s Purser Hall (1851 Schoettler Road, Chesterfield, Mo. 63017). Performances include three dance episodes from On the Town storied by Leonard Bernstein, American conductor/composer and George Gershwin’s An American in Paris.

In addition to the performance, the St. Louis Civic Orchestra welcomes special guests and traditional jazz musicians, T.J Muller and the Gaslight Squares. Mueller and the Gaslight Squares will be performing a set on Saturday, February 23rd.

“We’re so pleased to partner with T.J Muller and the Gaslight Squares,” Larry Levin, president of the St. Louis Civic Orchestra, said. “Not only are they one of the most fun and talented jazz ensembles in St. Louis, but bringing audiences together to celebrate collaborations between symphonic and other genres of music is always so exciting.”

The groups will also perform together with original orchestration by Civic board member and composer, Sam Golden.

Tickets for the performance are available online at the St. Louis Civic Orchestra’s website. They can also be purchased the day of the show. Ticket prices are $18 each for adults, $12 each for students and seniors (55+) and children 5 years old or younger are free. There are also various group specials available upon request.
