St. Louis County to team with Siteman Cancer Center for mobile mammograms

KIRKWOOD, Mo. – St. Louis County announced the partnership with the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital to conduct mobile mammograms, held on Tuesday.

“Thanks to Siteman Cancer Center and Washington University’s School of Medicine, cancer screenings will be offered to women who otherwise may not have access to these services,” Steve Stenger, St. Louis County Executive, said.

Washington University School of Medicine along with Susann G. Komen Missouri and the St. Louis County’s Office of Community Empowerment is sponsoring mammograms for women 40 years of age and older. Mammograms conducted are available at no cost to women with no health insurance.

“Community Empowerment’s main purpose is to marshal resources where they are needed most,” Stenger said.

Siteman Cancer Center’s mobile mammography van uses state-of-the-art digital equipment that emits the lowest possible radiation dose. Appointments begin at 9:00 am and conclude at 2:00 pm.
