Steward Family Foundation awards Care and Counseling challenge grant

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Board of Directors and professional therapists at Care and Counseling announced on Tuesday that the organization received a lead challenge grant from Steward Family Foundation.

The gift is made in hopes of encouraging others to donate, matching new, increased and planned gifts to the Care and Counseling Center’s annual campaign and endowment fund.

Rev. Amy Bertschausen (CARE AND COUNSELING)
“This is a true matching grant, meaning we must raise each yearly goal,” Rev. Amy Bertschausen, executive director of Care and Counseling, said. “While we are overflowing with gratitude, we have work to do.”

The organization will have yearly targeted goals required to receive the challenge funds. The grants from Steward Family Foundation will match dollar-for-dollar up to a designated cap, donations from supporters who have not previously contributed to the organization’s fund.

“We are so very grateful for the trust and support the Steward family has for Care and Counseling and our mission of hope and healing,” Bertshausen said. “Our gratefulness swells with this tremendous challenge opportunity that encourages us to broaden and deepen our base of support to ensure quality, affordable mental health services in the greater St. Louis community.”

According to Care and Counseling’s news release, the challenge grant will also match each dollar that was given above the amount a returning donor gave in 2018. Bertschausen shared that the need has never been greater and the organization is honored to be a vital resource to the St. Louis region.

The community can make a gift to Care and Counseling by contacting the organization’s Development Team via email (gfromme@careandcounseling.org) or via phone (314-878-4340).
