STL County Council debate animal control legislation that would raise the requirements for director position

On Tuesday the St. Louis County Council questioned a piece of legislation that would require the director of the animal division to be a licensed veterinarian.  The bill sponsored by Councilwoman Hazel Erby stems from constituents voicing their concerns about the conditions of the county’s animal shelters and the qualifications and conduct of the current manager, Beth Vesco-Mock.  Erby and others also voiced their concerns about Vesco-Mock, stating that she is not a licensed veterinarian.  […]

Saint Louis Zoo agrees on land purchase in St. Louis County

The Saint Louis Zoo Association and the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 562 announced Friday that they have entered into a sale agreement for the union’s 452-acre complex in north St. Louis County for $7.1 million. According to the zoo, the funds were allocated using privately donated funds. The space would be used for the zoo’s continued effort to mission to conserve animals. St. Louis County to offer reduced adoption fees for pets in October

St. Louis County announced on Monday that the county will offer free and reduced pet adoptions in the month of October.
