University City to host community-wide volunteer project

The city of University City will be hosting its celebrated community-wide day of service on national Make a Difference Day – Saturday, Oct. 27th. This serves as an opportunity for University City residents to give back to their neighbors and community.

UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. – Make a Difference Day is the perfect time to give back to your community. It is one of the most well-known days of service across the nation and everyone comes together to make a difference, including the award-winning city of University City.

University City was the first city in Missouri to form Make a Difference Day volunteer efforts and has had exceptional participation in the national holiday since. The city’s efforts do not go unnoticed either; it has been nationally recognized by winning the National Make a Difference Day Award in 2014. This year, University City is hosting its annual Make a Difference Day on Saturday, October 27. Community members will be participating in projects that give back to University City and increase the natural beauty of the community at no cost.

This year, the participants will be assisting University City seniors with yard work and home maintenance. Past projects include cleaning Olive Boulevard, the River Des Peres, and area alleys.

“The turnout and success we’ve had on Make a Difference Day shows how passionate our residents are about their community. It’s such a wonderful thing to see so many residents working to make this the best place to live,” said City Manager Gregory Rose.

The event will begin at 8:00 am and end at noon on the fourth Saturday in Oct., as it does every year. This is a great time for the community to come together and make a difference. Every year it impacts the well-being of the community and its citizens in a positive way and creates a good time to be had by all who participate.
