Armstrong Teasdale announces attorneys recognized for leadership and mentorship

ST. LOUIS – Armstrong Teasdale, a law firm with offices located across the United States, announced on Monday that partners Bill Corrigan and James Heinen Jr. have been recognized by Missouri Lawyers Media with a Mentor Award and Up & Coming Award.

Both Corrigan and Heinen will be recognized at an awards luncheon on Friday, Oct. 12th at the Missouri Athletic Club located in St. Louis.

Corrigan, a former president of The Missouri Bar, has litigation skills and legal acumen which have gained him national recognition. He has also served as outside general counsel to many privately held businesses headquartered in St. Louis.

This recognition speaks to Corrigan’s work as a mentor, not only guiding is clients through legal challenges, but counseling associates and other partners at the firm as well. According to the release, Corrigan is a consummate collaborator. He works with attorneys across the firm to help them find their strengths and “stand out among the crowd”, providing them with “actionable takeaways to help them develop professionally”.

Carrigan is active in the community as well as the political arena. He also participates on numerous charitable and civic boards, including SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Foundation and the Today & Tomorrow Educational Foundation.

Carrigan also served as the Republican candidate for the 2010 election for St. Louis County Executive.

Heinen serves as a co-leader for the firm’s Higher Education industry team and leads the Patent Agent/Engineer subgroup. He was registered before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and focuses on the preparation and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications for those in the chemical and biochemical industries.

As leader of the Patent Agent/Engineer subgroup from the program’s inception, Heinen oversees the hiring, training and development of patent agents and patent engineers/scientists. According to the release, he is “instrumental in the training and growth of Armstrong Teasdale associates”.

Heinen also has “extensive experience” in opinion work (validity, freedom-to-operate, etc.) and manages post-grant proceedings, which includes inter partes reviews for numerous high-profile clients.

Active in both professional and charitable organizations, Heinen served as St. Louis Chapter President for the Miami University (Ohio) Alumni organization from 2009 to 2014 and as a mentor for the American Intellectual Property Law Association from 2012 to 2014. He is also involved with the state bar associations and the St. Louis Sports Commission.
