Arrest made in Kirkwood shooting

Joshua Watkins, 27, of St. Louis, is charged with a class A felony of assault in the first degree in the shooting of Terrell Cunningham and Aleah Poe on Aug. 23, in Kirkwood.

According to police reports, Cunningham, 30, and Poe, 27, were shot at Gordon Place at Ohlman Avenue (near Target and Wal-Mart on Big Bend).

Police say one of the victims was seated in a vehicle and officers observed bullet holes through the front windshield of the vehicle. Both victims were transported to the hospital for treatment. The defendant confessed to shooting the victims, according to reports.

Watkins was walking away from the scene when Kirkwood officers arrested him. A Kirkwood police officer reportedly heard the shots fired around 1:41 a.m. and responded to the scene. Watkins is being held on a $250,000 bond.

Cunningham and Poe are listed in stable condition.

Both victims were charged a few months ago with endangering the welfare of a child and drug possession after being found passed out in their car, which was running, with two infants in the back seat.
