BAMSL to host legislative roundtable review of criminal justice reform, public safety, economic development

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Minorities in the Legal Profession (MILP) section of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis (BAMSL) announced their presentation of “Legislation & Diverse Communities: A Roundtable Review of Criminal Justice Reform, Public Safety and Economic Development.”

Thursday’s announcement included that the program is a private event and only open to members of the legal community. The event will be held Friday, March 8th from 11:00 am-2:00 pm at the Missouri Athletic Club.

The legislative roundtable is scheduled to bring Missouri lawmakers and attorneys for an interactive discussion with a focus on proposed legislation filed for the 2019 legislative session which impacts diverse communities.

Opening remarks will begin at 11:50 am from John Simon, president of BAMSL; Cardina Johnson, chair of MILP; Hon. Jimmie Edwards, director of public safety for the City of St. Louis; Wesley Bell, prosecuting attorney for St. Louis County; Steven Roberts, District 77 Representative for the Missouri House of Representatives.

The roundtable panelists include Missouri Representatives LaKeySha Bosley, D-St. Louis; Chris Carter, D-St. Louis; Shamed Dogan, R-Ballwin; Bruce Franks, Jr., D-St. Louis; Alan Green, D-Florissant; Jay Mosley, D-Florissant; Tommie Pierson, Jr., D-St. Louis; Wiley Price, Jr., D-St. Louis; Raychel Proudie, D-Ferguson; Steven Roberts, Jr., D-St. Louis; Cora Faith Walker, D-Ferguson and Kevin Windham, Jr., D-Hillsdale, and Missouri Senators Karla May, D-St. Louis City/County and Brian Williams, D-St. Louis County.
