Blunt Highlights New Legislation to Protect Victims of Domestic Violence

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Roy Blunt (Mo.) and Amy Klobuchar (Minn.), along with U.S. Representative Jason Smith (Mo.), Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft, and Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon, held a press conference today on the introduction of the Safeguarding Addresses from Emerging (SAFE) at Home Act.The bill would strengthen privacy protections for victims of domestic violence by allowing participants in state Address Confidentiality Programs to use their confidential substitute address when creating new public records at the federal level, preventing the disclosure of their actual physical address.
