Blunt to Participate in Press Conference on Rural Broadband During Missouri State Fair

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.) will be in Sedalia, Mo., tomorrow, Thursday, August 17, at 11:45 a.m. CT to participate in a press conference at the Missouri State Fair. Blunt, who will be joined by Missouri Governor Eric Greitens, Missouri Farm Bureau President Blake Hurst, University of Missouri Vice Chancellor for Extension and Engagement Marshall Stewart, CEO of the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives Barry Hart, and President of the Missouri Telecommunication Association Ric Telthorst, will discuss efforts to increase the availability of broadband in Missouri.

Earlier this month, Blunt spoke on the Senate floor to recognize August as “Rural Broadband Month” and highlight the importance of expanding high-speed internet to rural Missouri. Specifically, Blunt noted that expanding access to broadband internet in rural communities will benefit Missouri farmers and ranchers, expand access to health care, and improve the quality of education.
