On September 4, 2017 at approximately 7:35 PM, St. Louis County Police Department officers from the South County Precinct responded to the area of the 2700 block of Finestown Avenue, within Bee Tree County Park, for a report of possible found human remains.
Officers arrived on scene and contacted the reporting parties who were hiking along the western banks of the Mississippi River, when they located a shoe. Closer inspection of the shoe revealed what they thought was a foot to still be present inside. The hikers then notified the St. Louis County Police Department.
The shoe, a large sized men’s shoe, was found to contain a human foot.
Since the discovery of the human remains, several exhaustive searches have been performed on the area. The efforts include, but are not limited to, police canine searches, cadaver dog searches, water searches, helicopter searches, and article searches. The additional efforts have not yet revealed anything of value.
The St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crime Against Persons and the St. Louis County Medical Examiner’s Office are conducting investigations into the matter.
