Leadership Council on Legal Diversity presents Compass Award to Armstrong Teasdale

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Armstrong Teasdale, a law firm with offices across the United States, proudly announces that it has earned a Compass Award from the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD). An LCLD Member Firm, Armstrong Teasdale earned the award by actively participating in various LCLD programs designed to build a more open and diverse legal profession.

The firm was recognized at the Ninth Annual LCLD Membership Meeting on Oct. 16 in Washington, D.C.

“While our inclusion work is ongoing, we are proud of our results and efforts to-date,” said Managing Partner John Beulick. “Inclusion is extremely important to us, to our clients, and to the future of the legal profession. We’re committed to creating and sustaining a culture of inclusion through ongoing initiatives from recruiting to community involvement.”

Members of the firm who are currently participating in LCLD programs include Financial and Real Estate Services Partner Hillary Bean, who was previously selected for the 2018 Fellow program. Bean, who is also Director of Armstrong Teasdale’s Women’s Inclusion Network, is participating by attending conferences, training in the fine points of legal practice, peer-group projects to foster collaboration and build relationships, and extensive contact with LCLD’s top leadership, including the managing partners and general counsel who host the Fellows for Learning Experiences and Leadership Lunches.

Associate Rachel Orr, a member of the firm’s Financial and Real Estate Services practice group, was selected for the 2018 Pathfinder program, designed for early career diverse attorneys. The program is providing Orr with online experiential learning and peer networking opportunities. In addition, she is attending in-person meetings and has the opportunity to connect with LCLD Fellows in law firms and in-house counsel positions across the country.

“Programs such as those offered by LCLD not only hold law firms accountable for their diversity and inclusion efforts, but also engage us in important, broader dialogue about creating opportunities for lawyers to succeed,” said Meshach Rhoades, co-chair of the firm’s Inclusion Committee and LCLD Fellow alumna. “It’s critically important to bring people to the table with different experiences and opinions, and it enables us to better serve our diverse clients.”

In addition, Armstrong Teasdale actively participates in more than 10 separate efforts aimed at attracting diverse talent, one of which is the LCLD Pipeline program. The program matches attorney mentors with 1L students at schools in St. Louis and Kansas City, Missouri, and Denver, Colorado.
