Loop Trolley Company board of directors announces new leadership

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Loop Trolley Company Board of Directors, a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization, announced new leadership to the board on Thursday.

John S. Meyer, Jr., Capes Sokol Shareholder, is the new president of the board. Meyer succeeds Les Sterman who held the position for six years.

Meyer said the Loop Trolley is a wonderful asset to the region, connecting Forest Park and the Delmar Loop. He also noted that the electric heritage trolley system is a result of Joe Edwards’ vision as well as the hard work and commitment of the community.

“I am excited to lead the Board of Directors as the Loop Trolley Company prepares to begin seven-day service this spring now that our third restored, vintage trolley car has been delivered and is being tested and certified for service,” Meyer said.

In the last month, the Loop Trolley System began testing its third trolley car, a 1920s model from Melbourne, Australia. The capacity for the car is 100 passengers, with 50 sitting and 50 standing.

The Loop Trolley Company reported that the third car is expected to be ready for service by late spring 2019. Once all three cars are in service, the company will expand service from Thursday through Sunday to seven days a week.

Sterman will continue to serve on the Board of Directors as a member and vice president of operations. Sterman will succeed Tom Sehr in that capacity, who served for five years. Sehr, former executive vice president of Metro, will continue to serve as a member of the Loop Trolley Company Board.

Other elected officials to the Loop Trolley Company Board of Directors include:

  • vice president: Kim Tucci, co-founder of the Pasta House
  • vice president of communications: Tom Schmittdiel, TPM Creative Marketing
  • treasurer: Don Moschenross, former director of administration for the Metropolitan Sewer District
  • secretary: Joe Adams, former University City mayor and Missouri State Representative for the 86th District
  • assistant secretary: Jen Rieger, owner of OSO: A Style Lab

Currently, the trolley runs Thursdays through Sundays beginning at noon. Standard two-hour passes are $2 each and all-day passes are $5 each. Seniors, children and passengers with disabilities received a reduced fare. Visit LoopTrolley.com for more information on how to purchase tickets.
