SAINT CHARLES, Mo., Dec. 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Millions of babies were born in the U.S. over the past year, each one unique and precious. While every baby is special, many will share a first name. As 2017 comes to a close, Mom365 is uncovering which names were parents’ favorites this year.
The most popular baby names overall for the past year were:
- Emma
- Liam
- Noah
- Olivia
- Ava
The most popular baby girl names in 2017 were:
- Emma
- Olivia
- Ava
- Isabella
- Sophia
The most popular baby boy names in 2017 were:
- Liam
- Noah
- Elijah
- Logan
- Mason
“Logan” was the only new addition to any of the three lists since 2016, replacing “Michael” as the fourth most common boy’s name. However, some shifting occurred over the past year. “Olivia” was last year’s No. 1 baby girl name, but “Emma” jumped from fourth place to take the top spot. “Liam” and “Noah” traded spaces, while “Mason” was knocked down from spot No. 3 to fifth place.
Parents-to-be can use these lists to sort by sex or national origin or can consult the Top 100 Baby Names list to see the most popular all together. Choosing your baby’s name is both fun and a big responsibility. Consulting a list can help spark your imagination or lead you to the perfect moniker for your child.
