School Fair to feature charter schools, student performances during National School Choice Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Celebrating 20 years of charter schools in St. Louis, the Missouri Charter Public School Association will be hosting a fun-filled fair for St. Louis families on Saturday, January 19th.

The fair and free and will be held from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Grand Hall on Chouteau. The association except nearly 500 people to be in attendance.

During the fair, entertainment will be provided by a student string quartet, a student dance team and a robotics demonstration. Local charter schools, educational groups from every sector and education resource organizations will also be represented at the fair.

“Every child deserves the opportunity to receive an excellent education. Although there are many students receiving great instruction, today there are nearly 400,000 Missouri students below grade level, and if we don’t address their needs they will become nearly 400,000 adults ill-prepared for their future and the needs of our state’s workforce,” Dr. Douglas Thaman, executive director at the Missouri Charter Public School Association said in a news release.

Families who attend will have the opportunity to learn about the various educational options to help make more informed decisions about their children’s education while enjoying food, music and activities.

“It is incumbent upon us to ensure that every single child in this state has excellent options available to them,” Thaman said.

The free fair is planned to coincide with the history-making celebration known as National School Choice Week 2019. National School Choice Week will feature over 40,000 school choice events across the 50 states.
