Sen. Jamilah Nasheed calls on Mayor Lyda Krewson to have an Emergency meeting

JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Jamilah Nasheed, D-St. Louis, on Tuesday issued the following statement relating to a call for the Mayor Krewson to have an emergency meeting with black elected officials:

“I commend you for recognizing, as you so aptly wrote, that you ‘will need collaboration and cooperation from other elected officials’ to achieve this worthy goal.  I agree with your assessment and look forward to working with you to address these issues and chart a positive path forward for the City of St. Louis and its citizens.”

“After all of the unrest I am requesting that Mayor Lyda Krewson hold an emergency meeting with all black elected officials in the region to begin the important conversation about what policy changes should be made.”
