ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Join “Real Rock Radio” KSHE-95 FM for one of the nation’s largest blood drives Friday, Dec. 14th and Saturday, Dec. 15th.
KSHE has been hosting annual summer and winter blood drives since the 1980s. The station and its listeners have been able to help around 441,000 people.
This year’s KSHE Winter Blood is co-hosted by the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center and is expecting over 2,000 donors to participate in the two-day event with nine locations across the St. Louis metropolitan region.
KSHE-95 On-Air Host, Lern said that the station partners with Mississippi Regional Blood Center because of their regional message.
“The blood they collect stays in the St. Louis area and we really like that,” Lern said. “They’re very professional, interpersonal and lovely people. Their team is always on site with us during our blood drives making sure everything is as clear as can be for our listeners. We want people to have a positive experience and MVRBC really delivers.”
Locations will be open Friday, Dec. 14th from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and Saturday, Dec. 15th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Lern said that she always starts off the blood drive with her midday show at 10:00 am.
“I love being in front of my listeners and holding their hands when needed,” Lern said. “Just entertaining people and making the act of blood donating a pleasant experience is my goal.”
Lern said that she looks forward to new people who come out or the people that are donating for the first time. She said that it is easy to tell that the people donating feel good about what they are doing, especially around the holiday season.
“The potential to save a life is a gift you can’t put a price on and that’s what our listeners are doing twice a year,” Lern said.
Lern also likes the idea of annihilating the previous year’s donation goals. She said that it is fun to see the numbers come in by the hour.
Those who attempt to donate will get a commemorative 2018 KSHE Winter Blood Drive T-shirt and the chance to win a pair of tickets to see El Monstero, playing six shows this Dec. at The Pageant. One pair of tickets will be awarded from each of the nine locations.
KSHE has continued their annual summer and winter blood drives because of the people who come out year after year.
“We are grateful that our listeners have these amazing hearts who want to help others,” Lern said. “I think it’s really special. I don’t see us ever stopping as long as we’re a radio station.”
