SLSO welcomes debut of cellist Daniel Müller-Schott

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra (SLSO) announced its all-French program featuring the debut of cellist Daniel Müller-Schott and the return of SLSO collaborator, conductor Gillbert Varga on Friday.

The two-day concert will take place on Friday and Saturday, March 22nd-23rd to perform Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Lalo’s Cello Concerto and Franck’s Symphony in D minor.

Müller-Schott, acclaimed by Los Angeles Times for his “spotlessly pure sound” will perform Lalo’s Cello Concerto in his SLSO debut. He is an internationally-renowned cellist and has appeared with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Stuttgart Philharmonic and Prague Philharmonic this season.

Varga will be appearing with the SLSO for the ninth time, leading the SLSO in a performance of Franck’s only symphony. The concert will be opened with Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, which has been made famous by its inclusion in Disney’s 1940 film, Fantasisa.

Audiences have the opportunity to attend the free pre-concert conversation at 9:30 am on Friday and 7:00 pm on Saturday in the auditorium. The weekend’s conversations will be led by SLSO Creative Partner Tim Munro.

St. Louis Public Radio will be providing a live broadcast of the performance on Saturday, March 23rd at 8:00 pm. Those who cannot attend the concert can tune into the radio on air (90.7 FM KWMU) or online to hear the performance and interviews of Varga and Müller-Schott during intermission.

A shuttle service will also be available for Friday morning’s concert from West County. Shuttle tickets are $15 per passenger, per concert. The shuttle will depart from the St. Louis County Library HQ (1640 S. Lingberg Blvd.) at 9:15 am and return by 1:30 pm. All passengers must have both a shuttle and Coffee concert ticket.
