Spire donates backpacks and school supplies to children

Spire delivers more than 1,200 backpacks to Saint Louis Public School students as part of an annual back-to-school drive

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Children across our region may struggle at this time of the year to come to school with the supplies that help them learn and grow. For the fifth year, Spire is donating backpacks filled with school supplies to more than 1,200 elementary students in Saint Louis Public Schools.

Since 2014, Spire’s annual school drive has provided students the opportunity to interact with role models they see working in their neighborhoods each day and alleviates the burden on families who may struggle to afford much-needed school supplies.

This year, Spire sponsored a room at Walbridge Elementary School, now known as the “Inspire” room, where students can enjoy a quiet environment for studying or quiet time when needed.

Saint Louis Public Schools serves more than 22,000 students each year. The district’s mission is to provide a quality education for all students and enable them to realize their full intellectual potential.

Spire, the fifth-largest publicly traded natural gas company in the country, is committed to serving people. Spire believes that energy exists to help people, which reflects its ongoing commitment to providing safe, reliable and clean energy that helps customers cook delicious meals, take hot showers and heat their homes.
