St. Louis County Council will honor three middle school students who saved bus driver’s life

The St. Louis County Council will hear a resolution on Tuesday that would honor three middle school students who stopped their school bus when the driver had a medical emergency.

Introduced by Councilman Pat Dolan, the resolution would recognize three Rogers Middle School students who assisted their bus driver after she was reportedly not responding.

The students, Alex Fisher, Emilio Steward and Vernon Brown with the help of Michael Harrell, an adult, turned off the engine of the school bus and dialed 911.

Along with the resolution, the County Council plans to perfect Dolan’s other bills that would provide professional engineering and land surveying services to various improvements to Hanley Road from Dale to Manchester.

The engineering contract for the roadways would be with Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company Inc. in an amount that wouldn’t exceed $255,000.

Additionally, Dolan plans to introduce a bill that would authorize an agreement with Washington University in St. Louis for pedestrian and bicycle improvements along Big Bend Boulevard and Forest Park Parkway.
