Suspect charged, detectives seek additional victims

CLAYTON, Mo. – The St. Louis County Police Department announced on Wednesday the charges made against a suspect from December 22, 2018.

On Saturday, December 22, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Raymond Nugen, 39, of the 12900 block of Tulip Tree Lane in Hazelwood, Mo.

Raymond Nugen (St. Louis County Police Department)
Nugen was charged with one count of Enticement or Attempted Enticement of a Child. He is being held on a $200,000 bond.

The probable cause statement reads as follows: On or about December 21, 2018, Defendant convinced a Detective, who he believed to be the mother of a five year old child, to bring her child to a hotel for sexual acts. Defendant went to the Super 8 motel in an attempt to book a room for sexual acts. While waiting for the room to be ready, Defendant told Detective what sexual acts he wanted to do to the child. In addition to going to the hotel, Defendant also brought candy that he believed the child would like. Such conduct was a substantial step toward the commission of the offense of enticement of a child. Defendant was over twenty-one years of age.

The police department reported that as detectives from the St. Louis County Police Department’s Child Abuse Unit have continued their investigation, it is believed that there are additional victims of unreported crimes involving Nugen. The department said these crimes could exist as far back as the mid-1990 and that children, under the age of seven, were potentially victimized.

Police ask that if anyone has information or believe that they or a loved one was victimized, to contact that Child Abuse Unit at 314-615-5400.
