Third-generation Imo opens 100th Imo’s Pizza parlor

AFFTON, Mo. – Frank Imo Jr., grandson of founders Ed and Margie Imo, opened the 100th Imo’s Pizza® parlor on Tuesday, December 18, 2018.

Ed and Margie opened their first store at the corner of Shaw and Thurman Avenue in 1964. Then, the pizza parlor was opened evenings only, offering pick up and delivery. Ed continued his work as a tile setter, “slicing squares of linoleum by day and pizza by night.”

“When my grandparents opened their first store, I doubt they ever dreamed it would grow to where it is today,” Frank Jr. said.

By 1985, Ed and Margie had 30 stores and opened up their business to franchisees. Frank Jr. said he has admired the hard work that he has seen his grandparents put into creating the business.

“I am excited to continue their legacy by bringing the original, authentic St. Louis style pizza to more people,” he said.

The new store is located in Affton, Mo. at 9417 Gravois Road. It is open seven days a week – 10:00 am to midnight Monday through Thursday; 10:00 am to 1:00 am Friday and Saturday; 11:00 am to 11:00 pm on Sunday.

“Every parlor that opens is exciting for us,” Margie said. “But the fact that our 100th location is being opened and managed by our own grandson is really something special.”

Imo’s Pizza Company now has 100 locations across Missouri, Illinois and Kansas. To contact the Imo’s in Affton, call 314-631-0000.
