Two apprehended in Affton armed robbery

Just before midnight on Monday, July 24, police got a call that a suspect held up a cashier at the Circle K Gas Station in the 9000 block of Gravois Road in Affton.

When officers from the Affton Southwest Precinct responded, the suspect was still inside, but then ran to a blue passenger van waiting in a nearby parking lot. The vehicle sped off and a chase followed, police say.

Officers pursued the vehicle for a short distance to westbound Reavis Road, where the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a pole at Villa Ridge.  Two subjects ran from the van but were apprehended.

The suspects are identified as Marty Shaw, 26, of the 5500 block of Rosemount in East St. Louis, Ill., and Antonio Taylor, 29, of the 800 block of Charles in Belleville, Ill.

Today, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney charged Antonio Taylor with attempted robbery, armed criminal action, and resisting arrest. Taylor is held on an $80,000 bond.

Marty Shaw, the suspected getaway driver of the van, is charged with resisting arrest and is held on a $5,000 bond.
