State says Cooper County Clerk siphoned public funds for personal pick-up

Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley has filed felony and misdemeanor charges against Cooper County Clerk Darryl Kempf, according to a press release. This is the third corruption prosecution against public officials by Hawley’s Public Corruption Team. Kempf is charged with failure to furnish a return, receiving stolen property, and stealing. Hawley’s office alleges Kempf unlawfully obtained a vehicle that was being leased by Cooper County, and then intentionally withheld a sales tax return on the […]
