St. Louis Promise Zone, St. Louis County Library and Metro Transit will announce the launch of a new program to promote literacy and reading, and improve the transit experience for Metro riders during a special event on Thursday, March 29. Promise Zone community library boxes are being installed at four transit locations in the region. These boxes will be stocked with reading materials provided by St. Louis County Library, and transit riders will be able to pick up magazines, novels and children’s books to enjoy while they ride MetroLink, MetroBus and Metro Call-A-Ride. No library card is required, and there is no cost, no fines and no due dates. Borrowers are asked to return the reading materials to the community library box when they are finished so that other transit riders can continue to enjoy them.
