RELEASE: Theresia Metz appointed as administrator of Missouri Veterans Home – St. Louis

JEFFERSON CITY – The Missouri Veterans Commission announced the appointment of Theresia Metz as administrator of the Missouri Veterans Home – St. Louis, effective today, April 16. Metz will fill the position currently held by Interim Administrator Stan Smith who temporarily rejoined the Missouri Veterans Commission in December 2017 to stabilize and raise the quality of care at the St. Louis Veterans Home.

As administrator, Metz will be responsible for the direction, operations, and planning of the 300-bed Veterans Home.

Metz is a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator with more than 13 years in long term health care and over 30 years as a healthcare manager. Prior to this appointment, Metz was the administrator for the Fitzgibbon Hospital’s The Living Center, a 99-bed facility in Marshall, Mo.

Metz is a St. Louis native and holds a Masters of Health Administration and a Bachelor of Science, Health Information Management from Saint Louis University School of Public Health and Health Science.

“I am very pleased Theresia has joined the MVH-St. Louis team and will be building upon the great work already being championed under Stan Smith’s interim leadership,” said Interim Homes Program Director Eric Endsley. “Theresia is an experienced leader, mentor, and health care provider; she will be drawing on her knowledge and decades of experience to continue the very significant progress that’s been made in both Veterans’ care and working condition at the Missouri Veterans Home – St. Louis.”

“No group brings me more joy than our Veterans,” Metz said. “The Veterans we care for have bravely served and sacrificed for our nation. Now we are responsible for repaying them through skilled nursing care, attending to their needs and committing ourselves to treating them with the dignity they deserve. I am truly honored to serve at the St. Louis Veterans Home and to work with a team that’s fully committed to making a difference for all in our care.”
