Clayton High School student receives Emerson scholarship

Lian Anderson, a student at Clayton High School, has been awarded an Emerson National Scholarship.

She is among 30 recipients of the scholarship awarded annually to children of Emerson employees. Anderson, of Clayton, is the daughter of Elizabeth Anderson, Sr. Associate General Counsel, at Emerson Corporate Headquarters in St. Louis.

Winners, selected from among 73 finalists, were announced this week by James E. Jones, Emerson Vice President Human Resources.

Anderson plans to attend McGill University in Montreal and study archaeology and Chinese.

The winners of the Emerson scholarship receive $2,500 per academic year for four years. Selection is made based on academic performance of the applicants: Grade point average, class rank, and national test scores. Participation in school activities and community involvement are also considered in the selection process.
