After two years worth of construction, a new high-end apartment and retail building in Clayton opened its doors on Thursday.
The Opus Development Company welcomed the public to Ceylon Luxury Apartments grand opening party with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and an appearance by Clayton Mayor Harold Sanger.
The new 120-unit luxury residential apartment is adjacent to a variety of public transit options as well as featuring amenities fit for an active, urban lifestyle, such as a Fitness On Demand studio, secure bike storage and a rooftop terrace overlooking Central Avenue complete with fire pit, grill, club and game rooms and a kitchenette, as well as Starbucks on Demand.
Ryan Carlie, senior real estate manager at Opus Development Company, said the entire process of constructing Ceylon was exciting because of the unique, and modern features that the apartment complex offers.
“We went through the formal process with the city of submitting an application and going through that process which was great, and the idea is to create a transition that meets aesthetic of Clayton but in a modern, relevant way,” Carlie said. “Giving a nod to Old Town and then with the building height itself being only six stories and more boutique in nature and also creating that transition into the downtown central business district.”
According to the Opus Development Company, the building’s sleek and sustainable design will complement the city’s downtown business district and highly-trafficked “Restaurant Row”, which is a hub for dining and pedestrian activity.
“We are right in the heart of downtown Clayton and walkable from all these fantastic restaurants that Clayton has to offer,” said Deans Cervantes, assistant manager at Ceylon. “It’s also going to be a more intimate experience.”
Rents range from $1,375 per month for a 510-square-foot studio to $4,900 per month for a 1,142-square-foot two bedroom apartment. Tenants have already started moving in and more will be in the coming months, according to Cervantes.
Located just south of Maryland Avenue, Ceylon is one of many mixed-use luxury apartment developments that have been approved in recent years, and the second to complete construction in the last few months.
Carlie added that after two years, Opus Development Company is excited to finally have the grand opening for Ceylon.
“We’re thrilled to be open and have our grand opening tonight, and we look forward to having more residents in the building and kicking the project off.”
