RELEASE: University City to host 44th annual Memorial Day run to raise funds for community

University City is set to host its 44th annual Memorial Day Run on Monday, May 28, 2018. As part of the event, participants can explore the beautiful neighborhoods of University City in a 10K, 5K, or Fun Run.

The Memorial Day Run, one of the oldest races in the St. Louis area, is a staple in University City each Memorial Day, and this year marks its 44th anniversary. The race offers participants a fun and entertaining way to exercise, while raising funds for the University City community. Finishers will enjoy Urban Chestnut beer, Mr. Wizard’s frozen custard, fresh fruit from Market in the Loop and of course, Fitz’s root beer at the finish line. All proceeds from the race will benefit three local non-profit organizations: The Green Center, U City in Bloom, and the University City Public Library.

Registration for this event is available at www.ucitymemorialdayrun.com/registration. Racing packets will be available for pick-up on Sunday, May 27, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the University City Public Library, 6701 Delmar Blvd.  On Monday, May 28, Race Day registration and packet pick-up will start at 6 a.m. at the Library. The 10K and 5K races start at 7:30 a.m. from the University City Public Library, and the Fun Run will start at 9:20 a.m. on Sgt. Mike King Drive.
